About Sheffield University Korfball Club
Sheffield University has one of the more established and successful university korfball clubs in the country with around 60 members and 2 league teams. Our first team play in the Central England Korfball League competing against teams from cities such as Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester, whilst the second team now compete in the recently introduced Yorkshire League against local Sheffield and Leeds club teams.
In recent years the club has performed well. The first team followed up success at the 2003 BUSA nationals by finishing in the top 6 for the past five years. The first team retained the CEKL Division 1 title before the league was split into its current structure and will be launching an assault on the title this coming season.
The experienced second team performed well last season, with the team consisting almost entirely of beginners to the sport. Many of them will be hoping to push onto the first team this year with the experience they gained in the Yorkshire League last year. They finished a creditable 8th at the second team nationals.
We are commited to providing further opportunities for competitive play at weekend tournaments dotted around the country and holding friendlies with local teams to provide valuable match experience.

Sheffield University naturally enjoys a fierce rivalry with Sheffield Hallam. It's usually all in good spirit of course, with the derby at Varsity always an event to look forward to. However, life usually isn't too serious here at SUKC. There are regular organised socials and post-training drinks. We usually attend the many university tournaments in the North of England and Scotland which offer excellent possibilities for strengthening inter-club relations.
Our home matches are normally played at the Goodwin Sports Centre or alternatively Concord Sports Centre.
